Object reinvention
Object reinvention, the principle of which is to use an object for a different purpose to that for which the object was designed, had its glory years in the art world in the early twentieth century.
‘Readymade’ or ‘found’ art demonstrated how any object could be transformed into a work of art.
Today this unusual approach has become synoymous with recycling. One of the most obvious examples of this is a pair of jeans. Cut up and decorated with pockets, a pair of jeans is transformed into a customised, fashionable bag. Cristal d’Arques Paris absorbs these very inventive ideas and delights in reenvisioning its own creations, offering us a humourous look at how its creations can be reinterpreted and reused.
