To celebrate its 25-year reign in style and to crown the achievement of having sold in excess of 550 million pieces, Cristal d’Arques Paris looked back over the history of its famous stemmed glass with a view to securing its future. This ‘pedestal glass’, recognised everywhere as the emblem of the lead crystal glass, and furthermore the first to be retailed at an affordable price, has found favour with several generations. Just like the small screen – a now familiar luxury – to which Longchamp is linked by its past.
This time, however, the collection has taken the lead from its accomplice and perhaps stolen its limelight: the 80 years of television will have to stay in the shadows of a big surprise. Because, after the fashion of those classic black-and-white films that became coloured, Cristal d’Arques Paris has painted Longchamp in halftones (grey, lilac, old rose and black) and in bright shades (orange, red, amethyst and shocking pink). “Trendy”, “Flashy”, but most definitely in fashion, one of the big names in tableware adds to its legacy – its badge of honour – the spirit and extravagance of colour…
