A Success Story


In 1979, during a meeting, an anemone vase caught Jacques Durand’s attention.

Handling the vase, he added to it the stem of a glass. The idea that at that moment planted its seed in the mind of the director led to Cristal d’Arques Paris’ biggest success story: Longchamp.

From it’s launch, the lead crystal glass, cut like a diamond, established the brand’s reputation worldwide and became headline news alongside some of the other inventions of that year: the Walkman (Sony) and the Compact Disc (Philips and Sony).

Since then the brand has introduced many more collections, but Longchamp remains the bestseller; having sold to date in excess of 550 million copies worldwide, the decorative tableware ‘star’ celebrated its 25-year anniversary in style. Longchamp Folies, its worthy successor, is following in its footsteps and already establishing a reputation in its own right.
